Digitization

The tools of the future for preserving the memories of the past

Panini Cultura transforms the contents of libraries and archives by creating new digital assets that open up new ways of sharing the stories, figures, ideas, cultures, and identities of our artistic heritage.  We manage complex digitization projects, offering customized solutions designed to meet our partners’ requirements every step of the way. Whether the challenge is digitizing very large works, organizing vast archives, or developing a custom scanner for the job, we guarantee the highest quality service.

Digitization of Cultural Assets

We perform digital acquisitions in 2D and 3D, in ways that surpass the performance of conventional tools and meet the specific requirements of each project. Our most advanced technologies deliver excellent quality even in cases where spaces are tight or where there are obstacles such as glass cases or frames. We achieve optimal results without moving the works being photographed, respecting their physical integrity and the exhibition space.

Ultra-high Resolution Gigapixel Digital Twins

We use our proprietary technologies to produce ultra-high resolution gigapixel images, which are digital composites created by stitching together numerous close-up photographs of the same subject. The resulting digital images are of extraordinary definition and can display very fine detail when viewed closely. This creates exciting new opportunities for study, research, outreach to wider audiences, and innovative ways of experiencing the works.

Digitization of Documentary Archives

We make ultra-high resolution digital copies for public archives as well as for corporations, libraries and photographic collections. Digitization supports long-term conservation and facilitates access to documents, while at the same time, ensuring the protection of the original materials.

Digitization in 3D

We create virtual three-dimensional models that are faithful to the form, dimensions, and colors of all kinds of cultural assets, from small and medium-sized objects to large statues and interior decors. We use our ultra-high resolution digital models to create 3D physical replicas of works of art and archaeological artifacts. This is of fundamental importance for conservation, restoration, and enhancement of cultural heritage.

Digitization of Spaces and Monuments

Thanks to the use of state-of-the-art drones, we conduct aerial photographic surveys of monuments and buildings of historical and artistic relevance. In this way we capture ultra-high resolution images that we use to create highly accurate three-dimensional models. The richness of detail allows close observation and study of the surface textures and materials. The resulting digital models are true digital twins. Their extreme realism makes a virtual exploration possible from the inside as well as the outside.

Digitization of Fashion Archives

Our long experience in digitization also includes the digital acquisition and presentation of the historical archives of renowned fashion houses and collections of vintage clothing. With new hardware and software, we create digital twins of shoes, bags, and garments. We also make 360-degree digital captures of entire environments of the fashion archives. With immersive headsets, we can explore these temples of fashion remotely and zoom in to examine 3D models of clothing and accessories.
