Gruppo Panini Cultura was officially presented on September 12 at the Modena Chamber of Commerce. This marks a new chapter for Franco Cosimo Panini Editore, which has moved from its legacy of iconic stickers, art books, and children’s books to a present focused on the digitization of cultural heritage.
The Group aims to become a major hub for the digital transformation taking place in the world of arts and culture, bringing together four Italian companies, (Haltadefinizione, Memooria, Hyperborea and Mida Digit) into an integrated ecosystem. Each company is already a leader in the field of digital humanities.
These companies operate in synergy, each contributing its specific expertise. This includes the digitization, cataloging, and description of cultural assets, as well as the creation of advanced multimedia applications. Each company, in a different way, brings advanced technology to modernize and simplify access to cultural heritage.
Luca Panini, CEO of Franco Cosimo Panini Editore, describes the vision that is the basis for the formation of the Group: “With the Gruppo Panini Cultura, we want to revolutionize access to the cultural heritage of Italy and of other countries as well. We decided to invest in the digital humanities because it brings the digital revolution to those working in arts and cultural heritage.”

The companies in the group are all leaders in their fields, each with more than twenty years of experience working with Italy’s most important cultural institutions. Today, they collectively account for about 30% of the national target for digital assets under the PNRR, Italy’s post-pandemic National Recovery and Resilience Plan. 3D headsets, web portals, and artificial intelligence will revolutionize access to cultural heritage, also helping to overcome physical barriers.
Luca Panini continues, “We have opened full-scale digitization worksites all over Italy, in collaboration with some of the most important national institutions, such as the State Archives in Rome and Florence, and the Braidense National Library in Milan. They hold priceless collections which will now be made available to the public thanks to the work of the companies in our Group, made possible by the investments from PNRR. For the companies of Gruppo Panini Cultura, it is an exciting entrepreneurial challenge. For our family, it’s a new adventure in art preservation, protection and promotion of our country’s heritage.”
Franco Cosimo Panini Editore has made a commitment that goes beyond the mere investment in the digital sector: it is a mission to safeguard Italy’s cultural heritage and to make it available to future generations. This positions Gruppo Panini Cultura as a champion of a more inclusive culture, open to wider access and rich in opportunity.
