Every year, Arianna Day brings together archivists and archival institutions to discuss the evolution of archival technologies. The event serves as a forum for professionals in the field, offering an opportunity to reflect on the use and ongoing development of Arianna, as well as on the new challenges of digital archiving. The 2023 edition, titled Every Story is Change, focused on how technology is evolving to support the enhancement of cultural heritage, finding a bridge between the strict requirements for heritage management and the growing expectations of the public.
As Italy’s leading archival software, Arianna, developed by Hyperborea, continues to evolve in order to respond to newly emerging needs while upholding the highest scientific standards. Its current version, Arianna4, consists of two main modules: Arianna4Work, used for inventorying and archival description, and Arianna4View, its interface for end users, for consulting assets and related information.

At Arianna Day 2023, Haltadefinizione, Hyperborea, Memooria, and Mida Digit shared their expertise through thematic workshops and success stories — offering concrete examples of how technology can transform the way we see, manage, enhance, and access archives.

Throughout the day, digital accessibility was emphasized as a key factor in promoting history and collective memory, and in unlocking the information potential of historical archives. New technologies not only improve collection management and archival description, they also make consultation faster and more intuitive. In this way, cultural heritage can reach an ever-wider audience.
If every story is change, then the tools we use to preserve it must change as well.
